  • In 1985, on the day of the United States Senate election, thousands of minority voters were illegally "purged" from the voting rolls by the East Baton Rouge Parish Assessor. As a result, when these voters went to the polls they were not allowed to vote. The firm immediately, and successfully, filed an action to have these minority voters' rights reinstated, prompting the Mayor of the City of Baton Rouge to issue a proclamation naming election day 1985 as "Moore and Walters Appreciation Day" because of the firm's pro bono efforts on behalf of these citizens.
