Our firm was founded by Charles R. Moore and Edward J. Walters, Jr. in 1976. For over 25 years we have
represented hundreds of men and women and their families whose lives have been affected by personal injury
or death. In addition, our firm has been involved in major litigation concerning commercial,
insurance-related and employment-related disputes. For a complete listing of our areas of practice,
see the "practice areas" page.
The firm has represented clients in the federal and state courts in Louisiana and throughout the United States.
We have obtained for our clients some of the largest verdicts in the history of the State of Louisiana. In
addition to success in the courtroom, our firm prides itself at being in the forefront of the legal
community in legal ability, ethics and public service.
On November 4, 1986, the mayor of the City of Baton Rouge issued a proclamation declaring Election Day,
1986 to be "Moore and Walters Appreciation Day" as a result of the firm's legal actions taken on
election day and thereafter to preserve and defend the right to vote for the citizens of the
Parish of East Baton Rouge. The efforts of the firm put in excess of 6,000 persons back on the
voter rolls who were illegally purged from the voter rolls shortly before election day, 1986.
In 1993 Moore, Walters & Thompson received the Louisiana Consumers League's 25th Anniversary Award. The award recognized the firm's pro bono services to the working people of the State of Louisiana and its efforts supporting the worker's right to a safe workplace.
The firm yearly endows the Moore, Walters, Thompson, Thomas, Papillion, & Cullens Scholarship at Louisiana State University Law School for law students in financial need.
Our goal is to provide every client the best legal representation possible and we strive to be very sensitive to the needs and concerns of our clients understanding the stress caused by litigation.
In most cases, no fee is charged to the client unless there is a monetary recovery. Fee arrangements will be discussed with each client and structured for the individual case.
